FILIPINO PERFORMING ARTISTS COMPETE IN THE ASIA PACIFIC YOUTH PERFORMING ARTS CHAMPIONSHIP 2023

Kuala Lumpur, 20 December 2023 – Filipino performing artists in the field of dance and music were in full showcase in the Asia Pacific Youth Performing Arts Championships 2023 (YPAC-4) held on 16-18 December 2023, at the Malaysia Tourism Centre (MATIC), Kuala Lumpur.
 
The Philippines presented two acts to herald in the opening ceremonies on 16 December 2023– a ballet interpretation of the classic Bicolano folk song Sarumbanggi performed by students from ACTS Manila, and a beautiful rendition of the Filipino song entitled Umagang Kay Ganda, by Ms. Parris Eve Soledad Geiser.
 
Participating schools included ACTS Manila, Little Ballerina School of Dance, Ana Emata School of Dance, and Renee Grace Rosevilla School of Arts & Dance.
 
Filipino competitors won 15 medals for each category (gold, silver, and bronze) and one platinum award, for a grand total of 46 awards. Among the awardees were Margo Stella Lim (Bronze), Esther Hill (Silver) and Maria Ella Supan (Gold) for the Classical Ballet Solo category. Czarina Sophia Hinanay won the Platinum award for the Junior Vocal competition. YPAC Philippines’ Representative, Ms. Noemi Onglengco-Silangcruz, served as Dance Adjudicator.
 
The Philippine Embassy’s Information Officer, Ms. Aina Camille Abrencillo, attended the event in support of the Filipino performers. This marks the fourth year of the Asia Pacific Youth Performing Art Championship (YPAC-4), which is a large-scale art competition under the Association of Art and Culture in Malaysia. END
