Global Creative Arts — International Arts Competition Successfully Held in Kuala Lumpur

From October 23 to October 30, 2025, the Global International Arts Championship – YPAC was successfully held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Each year, more than one million participants from around the world advance through preliminary and semi-final rounds before reaching the finals. This event covered multiple artistic disciplines, including vocal music, instrumental performance, and dance, with youth and senior divisions designed to provide an international professional platform for artists of different age groups to showcase their talents.
The event received strong support from the Arts Division of the Malaysian Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Education, the Malaysian Federation of Cultural and Arts Associations, and the Global Cultural Arts Festival Organizing Committee.

Opening Ceremony

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Ho Kai Hung, President of the Malaysian Federation of Cultural and Arts Associations; Ms. Ng Siew Wei, Vice President; and Ms. Chow Mei Wan, Chief Executive Officer, attended in person and delivered speeches. They warmly welcomed participants from around the world and emphasized the competition’s important role in promoting international cultural and artistic exchange.

The invited international jury representatives included:

  • Anne Dyer, highly respected Australian dance educator

  • Zheng Yanting, Chairperson of the Global Cultural Arts Festival Organizing Committee, Chinese dance educator, and U.S.-based Doctor of Dance

  • Hanna Kang, Korean vocal artist

  • Liu Jia, Chinese dance educator

  • Lisa Salim, Indonesian international adjudication expert

  • Daisuke Takeuchi, Japanese international adjudication specialist

  • Muhammad Izwan Bin Suhairi and Leoang Ching, representatives of Malaysian adjudicators

  • Dr. Sornsuang Tangsinmonkong, Thai professional adjudicator

Competition & Cultural Exchange Activities

During the competition, art elites from 25 countries showcased their talents on stage. The event featured international competitive performances, master classes, and cultural arts study programs, offering participants and art enthusiasts rich learning and exchange opportunities.

Local cultural study tours allowed participants to explore Malaysia’s intangible cultural heritage. Visits included:

  • The Malaysian Royal Palace, where participants experienced the majesty of the monarchy and the depth of Malaysia’s history and culture. The palace’s exquisite architecture and magnificent decorations provided a vivid understanding of traditional Malaysian culture.

  • The Tin Museum, where participants learned about Malaysia’s tin-mining history and craftsmanship, viewing finely crafted tin products ranging from traditional tea sets to modern artworks.

Hands-On Cultural Experiences

Participants also experienced traditional tie-dye craftsmanship and handmade chocolate production.
In the tie-dye workshop, participants personally dyed fabrics to create unique patterns of their own. The chocolate-making experience combined culinary arts and creativity, allowing participants to produce chocolates that were both delicious and visually refined.

Malaysian Culinary Exploration

During the study tour, participants sampled local Malaysian specialties such as Bak Kut Teh, Satay, and Nyonya kuih. These dishes not only delighted their taste buds but also deepened their understanding of Malaysia’s food culture.

Promoting International Artistic Exchange

Through competitions and exchange activities, participants gained insights into diverse artistic styles and cultural characteristics from different countries, fostering mutual learning and cultural integration.
An Indonesian participant shared in an interview:

“Participating in this competition allowed me to meet outstanding artists from around the world. Their artistic styles and creative concepts inspired me greatly, and I hope to have more opportunities to learn and exchange ideas with them in the future.”

The international master classes and expert jury feedback provided invaluable learning opportunities, enabling participants to enhance their professional skills and artistic standards.

Advancing Culture–Tourism Integration

By using culture and the arts as a bridge, the event promoted the integration of culture and tourism, connecting global creative trends with new cultural tourism experiences. These cultural study programs enabled participants to deeply understand Malaysia’s history, traditions, and local customs while boosting cultural tourism development.

The event also attracted attention from both domestic and international visitors, enhancing Kuala Lumpur’s global visibility and influence.

Looking Ahead

Art knows no borders. The successful hosting of the Global International Arts Championship – YPAC Kuala Lumpur Leg has provided valuable experience for future artistic competitions and cultural exchange initiatives.

The competition plans to:

  • Expand participation to more countries and regions

  • Enrich competition categories and activity formats

  • Strengthen collaboration with international art institutions and artists

  • Organize more international exhibitions and performances

In terms of culture-tourism integration, the organizers will develop more art-themed travel products and routes, allowing participants to experience the unique charm of new cultural tourism while appreciating the arts.

This was a feast of art, a cultural exchange, and an unforgettable journey. Art elites from 25 countries competed with friendship and excellence on the Kuala Lumpur stage, demonstrating outstanding professional standards. By connecting global creativity, the event made a positive contribution to international cultural exchange and the integrated development of culture and tourism.

It is believed that such artistic gatherings will continue to shine in the future, allowing more people to experience the power and beauty of art.
